In search of solutions to minimize loss of life and damages in the economy of the Philippines, e-participation systems focused on disaster risk reduction. One of which is Malasakit (solicitude). Malasakit has been developed for the Philippines to solicit opinions, ideas, and other inputs from the communities especially those who have been victims and have survived in previous calamities. This bottom-up approach will allow the government and other stakeholders to develop policies that will surely be helpful to the affected areas and communities. Other e-participation systems have also been deployed in the Europe region, Finland, Uganda, Mexico and other countries to also empower its citizens when asked for inputs while improving their policy-making process.
